FREMONT, CA – Hiring woodworkers is a challenge, says Commercial Casework Inc. CEO Bill Palmer. “We need very skilled craftsmen and there are not a lot of those around, he told the San Francisco Business Times.
The custom architectural millwork and cabinetry company Commercial Casework Inc. grew 72% from 2010 to 2012, and made the 2013 list of the 100 fastest growing San Francisco Bay Area businesses, in the Business Times’ listing.
Commercial Casework Inc. operates in a 42,000 square foot plant in Fremont, manufacturing and installing custom architectural millwork, providing turn-key solutions in comprehensive bid packages that can include solid surface, metal paneling, glass tops, acrylic panels, veneer, plastic laminate, and numerous other finishes.
Sales fell from $13 million in 2008 to $7 million in 2009. In 2012 they rose to $16.8 million, CEO Bill Palmer told the Times. “Business is great; construction is booming,” he said. Palmer has completed a software upgrade and will add equipment. Commercial Casework Inc. added five cabinetmakers and may add another five, “if we find the right people,” Palmer told the paper.
Commercial Casework Inc. says a majority of its equipment is fully integrated with modern software packages, but for the items that require custom craftsmanship, “We have a full service custom manufacturing department with highly skilled tradesmen that are members of Carpenters Union Local 2236 that have been with us for over 20 years.”
“We are able to provide competitive rates with our outstanding safety record,” says the firm. “If required, we are bondable in excess of $10 million at a very competitive rate.”
